The European NIS2 directive, which entered into force on January 16, 2023, must be transposed by each EU member state, no later than October 2024.

Beyond compliance, this directive is proof of the increased importance of cyber risks and the role that managers have to play in securing the operations of their companies.
According to this directive, the management bodies of entities deemed “essential or important” will have to formally approve cybersecurity risk management measures, supervise their implementation, and can be held legally responsible for offenses committed by their organization.

All members of management bodies will be required to undergo regular training to acquire sufficient knowledge and skills to identify risks, evaluate cyber security risk management practices and assess their impact on the services provided by their organization
